Bio:

Ignazio Colt Nicastro is the Curator of Exhibitions and Programs at Riverdale Hub and the founding Director and Curator of IC Contemporary (ICC). He is a graduate from the University of Toronto and Sheridan College with an Honours Bachelor of Arts, with double majors in Fine Art & Art History and Communication, Culture, Information and Technology.

Nicastro's curatorial experience often explores complex theoretical practices around identity. He has worked with artists such as Deidrick Brackens and Chase Joynt, allowing him to explore the intersectionality of marginalised identities and how those lived realities unfold in a Eurocentric, heterosexual focused world. Additionally, his work with Elly Heise and Veronica Park tapped into the subconscious elements of human identities, providing an exploration and better understanding of the spaces around and within us.

To expand on Nicastro's efforts to support under-represented artists, he launched ICC in 2020, which focuses on exhibiting local and emerging artists in digital art gallery spaces. Accessibility to the fine arts is critical to Nicastro's practice, which is also why all projects within ICC are free and available to anyone. It is with these efforts that Nicastro hopes to combat the socio-economic barriers put up by the art industry.
